A shocking incident has come to light in Gangtok, where an 18-year-old girl was allegedly molested by her uncle.
According to the police, the victim, a resident of Soreng district, had come to Gangtok to appear for her compartment exam at Deorali Girls Sr. Sec. School. She was staying at Hotel at New Market, with her uncle, Lall Man Rai.
The incident occurred on the night of 19th July, when the uncle allegedly molested her. The victim managed to escape and hide in the toilet, where she called her friend Salon Rai for help.
With the help of her friend and his sister Reshma Darnal, the victim was rescued and the matter was reported to Sadar Police Station. The accused, Lall Man Rai, 42, has been detained for interrogation.
The police have registered a case under relevant sections of the POCSO Act, 2012, and are investigating the matter.
