The event aimed to enhance awareness about the crop insurance scheme among local farmers and to ensure the direct delivery of policy documents to their hands, thereby reinforcing transparency and accountability in agricultural insurance services.

The programme was graced by Panchayat President, Ms Chandra Kala Sharma, who attended as the Chief Guest. The event also saw the active participation of Assistant Development Officer (ADO) of Parakha, Mr. Tashi Gyamtso Bhutia, District Coordinator of PMFBY, Ms. Dil Kumari Subba and several officials from the Agriculture and Horticulture Departments.

Farmers representing three different Gram Panchayat Units (GPUs) were present at the gathering, reflecting strong community engagement and interest in the government’s agricultural initiatives.

Officials from the Agriculture and Horticulture Departments provided detailed information on the objectives, coverage, and claim processes of the PMFBY scheme. They elaborated on how the programme not only secures the farmers’ livelihoods but also contributes to long-term agricultural sustainability and financial inclusion.

The event also created an interactive platform where farmers could directly communicate their queries and challenges to officials. Open discussions were held regarding premium payments, claim procedures, and the digitalisation of records, allowing the participants to gain a clearer understanding of the scheme’s functioning.

In addition to awareness sessions, policy documents were physically distributed to the enrolled farmers, ensuring accessibility and accountability.
