Rhenock Block Celebrates International Women’s Day
Pakyong, February 20: The International Women’s Day celebration was convened on 19th February 2025 at Rhenock BAC, in collaboration with SRLM Rhenock Block.
This celebration was conducted at the block level in accordance with the Sikkim Government’s directive to commemorate International Women’s Day on 20th February 2025.
The Chief Guest, Mrs Ranjana Baraily, Zilla Panchayat, Bering-Sudunglakha, shared her inspirational success story as a woman leader, motivating participants to pursue socio-economic development with the support of SRLM.
Ms Prerna Baraily, Deputy Director AH&VS alongside Mrs Keshari Sharma, HDO Rhenock, delivered motivational and insightful speeches highlighting the significance of women’s empowerment in contemporary society.
Mr Shanti Kumar Sharma, BDO Rhenock, emphasised that the upliftment of women is essential for fostering a progressive and healthy society.




Mrs Babita Gadaily, Zilla Panchayat, inspired attendees with her remarks, encouraging them to seize available opportunities for self-reliance and personal growth.
Women from various Self-Help Groups (SHGs) actively participated in the event, and the winners were recognised and honoured. Moreover, the best women entrepreneurs from each Grama Panchayat Unit (GPU) were acknowledged for their contributions and received awards from the Chief Guest.
At the outset, Mr Bhim Dahal, BPM Rhenock, outlined the objectives of the event.
The programme featured several engaging activities, including dance and singing competitions, an art and craft competition, as well as poem recitation and essay writing competitions.
The event was attended by distinguished dignitaries, including Mrs Mamta Pradhan, Zilla Panchayat, Aritar; Panchayat Presidents and members from all four GPUs; officers from various departments; as well as representatives from NGOs of Rhenock Block and Self-Help Groups (SHGs).
