State Bank of Sikkim Celebrates 58th Foundation Day
The State Bank of Sikkim (SBS) marked its 58th Foundation Day with renewed milestones in infrastructure, technology, and service delivery. The Bank’s renovated Head Office, modernized under the present government since 2019, was inaugurated with upgraded facilities.
Key highlights include the transition to new CBS software, launch of a quarterly in-house newsletter, and significant expansion—SBS now operates 58 branches, 8 extension counters, and 3 dedicated 24×7 counters. Its total business has more than doubled since 2019, with over 1,000 locals employed.
New branches have been opened across Gangtok, Mangan, Pakyong, Namchi, and Geyzing districts. The Bank has also extended loans to youth entrepreneurs, students, and taxi drivers, while offering rehabilitation support to businesses.
Officials emphasized that SBS has transformed into a modern, people-centric financial institution and is poised for further growth and innovation.
