Suspicious “RTO CHALLAN” App Circulating on WhatsApp – Authorities Warn Public Not to Open File

A suspicious mobile application named “RTO CHALLAN” is reportedly circulating on WhatsApp, raising alarm among users and cybersecurity experts. The .apk file, disguised as an official app related to vehicle challans, is suspected to contain malicious code or a virus that may compromise users’ personal data and device security.
Several users have reported receiving the app via WhatsApp messages with prompts to download and install it. Once installed, the fake app is said to harass users by sending unauthorized messages and possibly accessing sensitive information.
Authorities and cybersecurity professionals have strongly advised the public not to download or open the file if received. Citizens are urged to install applications only from official sources, such as the Google Play Store or government websites, and to immediately delete any suspicious messages.
If anyone has already installed the app, they are advised to uninstall it immediately, clear cache and data, and run a reliable antivirus scan on their devices.
Public awareness is being emphasized to prevent further spread of the malicious file.
