Traders Using South District License to Conduct Business in East District, Locals Urged to Stay Alert

In recent days, several traders carrying business licenses issued from Turung Mamring Gram Panchayat Unit in Namchi District have been entering Amba–Mamring area of Pakim District and selling household items. Locals report that such traders have been frequently seen moving from village to village.

A few days ago, a man carrying only a small bag filled with clothes was seen in the Mamring area. When questioned by local youths, he initially claimed to be a resident of Siliguri. However, during repeated inquiries, he provided different identities each time. Due to his suspicious responses, the locals eventually chased him away from the area.

Since there are specific rules governing business operations in the village, residents are advised to remain cautious about individuals conducting trade without proper authorization or those entering the village with licenses issued from other districts.

Rising Concerns of Fraudulent Activities

Locals have expressed concerns that such unauthorized traders going door-to-door may be involved in deceptive activities, potentially leading to fraud. Hence, villagers have been urged to stay vigilant and verify the identity and license of any unfamiliar person engaged in commerce within the area.
