Sikkim joins nationwide ‘Sardar@150 Unity March’ as Sports Minister launches event in Gangtok

Minister for Education, Sports and Youth Affairs, Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Government of Sikkim, Mr Raju Basnett officially launched the nationwide ‘Sardar@150 Unity March’ at Tashiling Secretariat, Gangtok, today. The historic nationwide campaign is dedicated to the 150th birth anniversary of the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who strove to unite a fragmented India after independence. The Unity March seeks to uphold his ideals of ‘Ek Bharat’ and ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’. The campaign, which began on October 6, 2025, is being conducted in two phases. The commemorative program will continue until Vijayadashami 2026 and include a series of events across the country.
