Awareness and Sensitisation Session Held at PM Shri Tikalal Niraola Senior Secondary SchoolPakyong, September 11: As part of the ongoing 10-day Special District Awareness Campaign under SANKALP: Hub for Empowerment of Women (HEW), an awareness program was organized by the District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW), Pakyong District, at PM Shri Tikalal Niraola Senior Secondary School, today. The program focused on Mission Shakti Schemes and the POCSO Act.Miss Sanjita Sharma, Accountant of DHEW Pakyong, hosted the event and delivered the welcome address.Miss Kusum Sharma, Gender Specialist of DHEW, highlighted the Mission Shakti Schemes such as WHL, CHL, OSC, and DHEW, along with discussions on gender-related issues. She spoke about the deep-rooted nature of patriarchy and gender inequality, stressing the importance of women’s empowerment and quality education in eliminating these barriers. She also sensitized the students on the concepts of good touch and bad touch.Mr Kamal Sharma served as the resource person for the session. He spoke on the issue of child sexual harassment and explained the POCSO Act, a law designed to prevent and punish crimes against children. His expertise made the session engaging, interactive, and informative. He further elaborated on the Child Helpline (CHL) and the role of the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU).The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Miss Anjali Adhikari, Social Welfare Inspector, who expressed gratitude to all contributors and participants for making the program successful. The enthusiastic participation of students made the event both effective and impactful.The 10-Day Special Awareness Campaign under SANKALP: HEW on women-centric schemes is being held from 2nd to 12th September 2025. DHEW urges all stakeholders to spread awareness about the Mission Shakti Schemes and the POCSO Act to prevent mishaps, harassment, and crimes against women and children.
