Nepali Citizen Arrested in Sikkim for Illegal Entry and Possession of Forged Indian IDs

Rajesh Biswakarma, a Nepali national from Mechinagar, Jhapa, was apprehended in Rumtek, East Sikkim, on Saturday for illegally entering a restricted area without a valid Inner Line Permit (ILP) and carrying multiple forged Indian identity documents under the alias “Sanu Pradhan.” His real identity was verified using his Nepal National ID.

The arrest comes amid heightened security measures following recent unrest and jailbreaks in Nepal. Since Rumtek falls under a Protected Area, entry is permitted only with a valid ILP issued by the authorities.

A criminal case has been registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and the Foreigners Act, 1946. The investigation is currently in progress.
