Man Hospitalized After Being Hit by Vehicle; Scooty Missing from Accident Spot
Nirbesh Rai, a resident of Singla, Darjeeling, was seriously injured after being hit by a private vehicle at Kirney, near Melli along NH-10, a few days ago. He was returning to Gangtok on his scooty to drop off his wife and child after the Dashain break when the accident occurred. Nirbesh, who works in a hotel in West Sikkim, sustained multiple injuries and is currently admitted to CRH Manipal, Tadong. His child also suffered injuries, while his wife escaped with minor wounds.
Amidst the rush to provide medical assistance, his scooty (No. SK 08 P 2287) was left at the accident site but later went missing, suspected to have been stolen. The hardworking man from a modest background has now suffered a double loss. His family appeals to the public for help in tracing the missing scooty.
