Yangang Shines at Northeast India Tourism Awards 2025 with Double Honour

In a moment of immense pride for Sikkim, the serene and scenic town of Yangang in South Sikkim has been conferred with a prestigious titles at the Northeast India Tourism Awards (NEITA) 2025 — winning accolades as the “Best Emerging Destination” The awards was presented during the landmark inaugural edition of NEITA, held on October 11, 2025, at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Guwahati.

The Northeast India Tourism Awards, widely envisioned as the “Oscars of Northeast Tourism,” were instituted to honour the visionaries, destinations, and initiatives shaping the future of tourism across the eight states of Northeast India. This first-of-its-kind platform recognised Yangang for its exceptional growth, adventure offerings, and community-driven tourism development that seamlessly integrates sustainability and cultural heritage.

Accepting the award on behalf of Yangang were two key figures who have been i nstrumental in its rise as a top-tier destination: • Mr. Robin Basnet, a respected name in sustainable tourism and development in Sikkim, who first envisioned Yangang as a premier tourism destination over a decade ago Mr. Bijay Limboo, a passionate birdwatching expert and the driving force behind the “Visit Yangang” initiative, who has worked tirelessly to promote eco-tourism and experiential travel in the region.

Their relentless dedication and community-led approach have transformed Yangang into a haven for adventure seekers, birdwatchers, and cultural explorers alike.
