A case has been registered at Rhenock Police Station following allegations of cow slaughter at Middle Tarpin under Rhenock .
According to police sources, on the night of May 24 at around 10:59 PM, Ashok Pradhan of Middle Tarpin lodged a written complaint stating that he had received information from local panchayat members that Birendra Puri, son of Durga Prasad Puri and resident of Middle Tarpin, had allegedly slaughtered a cow on his private land on May 23.
Following preliminary verification, police registered FIR No. 04/2026 dated 24/05/2026 under Section 11(1)(i) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, read with Section 325 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
The place of occurrence at Middle Tarpin was located and cordoned off due to odd hours, while legal formalities are being carried out. Police confirmed that the matter is currently under investigation.
Meanwhile, one person has also been detained under Section 35(1) of the BNSS, 2023 as part of preventive action.
