Sikkim State Disaster Management Authority conducts training on Disaster Management and Search and Rescue for Disaster Management officials of Gyalshing and Soreng district. The State Government has appointed 1145 Disaster Management officials in three different posts viz Disaster Management Co-ordinator, Disaster Management Supervisor and Disaster Management Assistant. These officials have been posted to all six districts of the state. Suicide Case Reported in Gyalsing District A suspected suicide was reported in Mangnam, Gyalsing District, on February 17, 2025, bringing the total to 19 such cases in Sikkim over the past 10 days. A resident returned home from a local ceremony to find his wife deceased near their home. Preliminary investigations found no signs of foul play. The couple had been married for over seven years and had three children. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, with rising concern over the increasing number of suicide cases in the state.
