Massive Fire at Delhi Restaurant Claims Lives, Rescue Operations Continue

New Delhi, June 3:

A massive fire that broke out at the Lemon Green Restaurant in Malviya Nagar, South Delhi, on Wednesday morning has claimed multiple lives and left several others injured. Initial reports had put the death toll at 10, but authorities later confirmed that the number of fatalities had risen significantly as rescue and recovery operations progressed.

According to the Delhi Fire Service, the blaze erupted around 8:50–9:00 AM, prompting the deployment of multiple firefighting units, including around 10 fire tenders. Firefighters launched an intensive operation to control the flames and evacuate those trapped inside the multi-storey building.

Officials said more than 40 people were rescued and shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment. The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation, though preliminary reports suggest it may have originated in or around the restaurant area of the building.

Authorities have launched an inquiry into the incident, while emergency teams continue to assess the damage and assist affected families.
