Statehood Golden Jubilee Closing Ceremony Celebrated with Grandeur at Govt. Primary School, Taksang Kaizaley, Pakyong District

Government Primary School, Taksang Kaizaley, under Pakyong District, has set a remarkable example by successfully organizing the Statehood Golden Jubilee Closing Ceremony from 29th April to 16th May 2026, transforming the campus into a vibrant hub of learning, culture, sports, and community participation. This historic initiative stands as a proud milestone, demonstrating how even a primary school can lead a large-scale, meaningful celebration of statehood with vision and dedication.

The celebration was conducted with the objective of promoting holistic education, encouraging student confidence, and strengthening the bond between school and community. Over the course of more than two weeks, the school hosted a wide spectrum of activities that reflected both educational values and festive spirit.

A major highlight of the event was the Tiger Five Open Football Tournament, which attracted enthusiastic participation from teams across different areas. The tournament not only showcased sporting talent but also fostered discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship among youth and the wider community.

In addition to sports, the programme included a series of student-centered competitions, such as quiz contests, painting, and speech events. These activities were carefully designed to nurture creativity, enhance communication skills, and build self-confidence among students. The active involvement of children in these programmes reflected the school’s commitment to developing well-rounded individuals.

The celebration was further enriched by colourful cultural performances, including traditional dances and artistic presentations by students. Cultural programmes were also presented by neighbouring institutions such as Mamring Senior Secondary School, Tareythang Secondary School, Bering Secondary School, and Amba Secondary School, highlighting a spirit of unity, collaboration, and shared cultural pride.

A unique and engaging feature of the programme was the inclusion of sports activities for both students and the general public, promoting inclusiveness and community bonding. The grand finale will feature an exhibition football match between women staff of the school and members of local Self Help Groups (SHGs), symbolizing women empowerment, participation, and community strength.

The school also acknowledges with deep gratitude the generous contribution of the Khatiwara family of Mamring Dhargaon, who have donated the Winner and Runner-Up trophies for the football tournament in loving memory of their beloved father, Late Chandra Prasad Khatiwara, and mother, Late Dhanmaya Khatiwara. This gesture has added special significance and emotional value to the sporting event.

This entire initiative has been organized in alignment with the visionary leadership and guiding principles of Hon’ble Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, under the inspiring theme “Sunaulo, Samriddha ra Samartha Sikkim.” The programme reflects the government’s commitment to empowering educational institutions, promoting grassroots participation, and celebrating Sikkim’s journey of progress and unity.
