Fisheries Department Mangan in collaboration with ICAR – Central Inland Freshwater Research Institute (CIFRI) conducted a fish sampling survey from 29th Nov – 1st December 2024 at Teesta and it’s tributaries namely Ring-chu, Kanakha-chu, Rehee-chu, Chungthang and Yumthang – chu of Mangan District.The main motive of sampling was to explore the Fish Diversity, it’s catching pattern and to study the habitat ecology of the major Rivers of Sikkim. The team was headed by Dr. Shyamal Chandra Sukla Das ( Principal Scientist, CIFRI) and Mrs. Niti Sharma (Scientist CIFRI) where the sampling commenced from Rivers of Dzongu North Sikkim and were concluded at Yumthang-chu
