Lupin Pharmaceuticals Promotes Sustainable Livelihoods Through Sapling Distribution in Takchang Kaizaley

CSR Initiative Aims to Boost Agricultural Sustainability and Rural Income

Pakyong, June 24: In a significant step towards promoting sustainable agriculture and enhancing livelihood opportunities for rural households, Lupin Pharmaceuticals has distributed lemon and betel nut (areca nut) saplings to residents of Takchang Kaizaley Ward under Amba Gram Panchayat Unit (GPU) in Pakyong District under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.

The initiative was undertaken with the objective of encouraging long-term horticultural practices and providing villagers with an additional and sustainable source of income. Under the programme, 11 households received betel nut saplings while 9 households were provided with lemon saplings, benefiting several farming families in the area.

Apart from the saplings, the company also supplied organic manure and essential plant protection medicines to ensure proper growth and maintenance of the plantations. The support is expected to help beneficiaries establish healthy orchards and improve productivity in the coming years.

The programme was successfully coordinated with the assistance of Mr. Kamal Bastola, a progressive farmer from Takchang who played a pivotal role in identifying suitable beneficiaries and facilitating the implementation of the initiative. His involvement helped bridge the gap between the company and the local farming community, ensuring that the benefits reached deserving households.

Speaking on the occasion, local residents appreciated the efforts of Lupin Pharmaceuticals in extending support to rural communities through meaningful developmental activities. Beneficiaries noted that lemon and betel nut cultivation can serve as reliable long-term income-generating crops and contribute significantly to household economies once the plants mature.

The initiative is also expected to encourage more farmers to adopt horticulture-based farming practices, thereby diversifying agricultural activities in the region. Such programmes not only strengthen rural livelihoods but also contribute to environmental conservation through increased green cover and sustainable land use.

The beneficiaries and residents of Takchang Kaizaley expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Lupin Pharmaceuticals, Mr. Kamal Bastola, and all associated agencies for their valuable support. They hoped that similar programmes would continue in the future to empower farming communities and promote self-reliance through agriculture.

Community Appreciates Corporate Support for Rural Development

The sapling distribution programme has been widely welcomed by the local community, which views the initiative as a positive example of how corporate entities can contribute to grassroots development. By investing in agriculture and supporting farmers, the programme is expected to create lasting socio-economic benefits while fostering sustainable development in the region.
